The RWIS way
Our Mission at RWIS is to make a positive difference for every single student in our care, helping to develop their full potential. We aim to nurture confident, independent, and resilient students in an inclusive, caring, challenging, diverse and joyful international learning environment. This outstanding student experience will empower RWIS graduates with the attitudes, skills and attributes to thrive in a rapidly changing world by enriching their own lives and those around them.
To achieve this, we adopt the foundational principals of a Future-Focused and Holistic International Education. This is an education that integrates cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to provide a holistic education, preparing students for a rapidly changing and uncertain future. It emphasises character, well-being, and the development of 21st-century competencies, adopting transdisciplinary, student-centred and experiential approaches to learning. This is The RWIS Way!
What’s it like in a RWIS classroom?
RWIS classrooms are student, not teacher-centered, meaning that students take ownership over their learning and environment, to an age-appropriate level.
They will be asked to think critically, communicate and collaborate to solve complex problems. They will learn to work independently, in teams, and across subject areas in what we call transdisciplinary learning.
Students will engage with various learning approaches, tools and technologies, as well as cultures, languages and diverse ways of thinking. They develop international-mindedness and intercultural competencies and become confident global citizens.
We design all our curriculum and assessments with the RWIS Watchwords in mind. These four attributes are our way of recognising that students need to develop attitudes and life skills throughout their education, as well as academic skills, to be successful in our ever-changing world
In all that we do, we are guided by our four watchwords:
Honesty
Students will embrace honesty to build trust and integrity in their personal and academic lives, fostering an environment of transparency, inclusion and moral behaviour.
Compassion
Students will develop compassion to understand and empathise with other cultures, people and all living beings, promoting kindness and support within the school community and beyond. This will come to life through a selfless commitment to serving one's community and the environment.
Courage
Students will act with courage to face challenges and take risks, enabling them to stand up for their own and others' beliefs, making positive changes in the world.
Drive
Students will develop the drive to pursue their goals with determination, resilience and adaptability, embracing a growth mindset and learning from failures, while remaining motivated and focused on their personal and academic achievements.
