Facilities

Our school is housed in a historic property of great charm and atmosphere in La Vileta area of Palma on a plot covering an area of over 10,000 sq meters. It was built in 1929 to enable the Catholic Church to undertake it’s important charitable and social work with vulnerable people. Until recently the property was owned by The Vatican.

Our Grounds and Building at Raoul Wallenberg International School
RWIS is proud to present our state-of-the-art facilities housed in a historic building in the charming La Vileta area of Palma. This impressive property, once an old convent, has been transformed into a dynamic educational environment while preserving its historical charm and atmosphere.

Historic Charm and Modern Facilities
Our school occupies a remarkable plot of over 10,000 square metres, featuring three floors of meticulously designed learning spaces. The main building consists of approximately 20 different teaching rooms, administrative offices, specialised music, arts and science rooms, an in-house kitchen, and dining halls. The building's exterior has been thoughtfully restored to its original condition, retaining its gothic feel, while the interior boasts modern, efficient educational facilities. We have both indoor and outdoor dining halls to provide flexible dining options for our students, further enhancing their school experience. Our educational and technological facilities are designed for future-ready learning, incorporating the latest innovations to support holistic students development.

The Beating Heart of Our School
One of the most captivating features of our school is the magnificent chapel, now converted into a school auditorium. This space serves as the beating heart of RWIS, hosting school assemblies, lectures, concerts, and various cultural activities. The school library, a central hub for student learning and research, is also located within this historic chapel.

Extensive Outdoor Spaces
The extensive outdoor spaces at RWIS offer a variety of opportunities for play, exercise, and sports activities. Our grounds include a football field, beach volleyball and basketball courts, beautifully landscaped gardens, and an orange grove where children can meander and explore. Dedicated spaces for outdoor classes and a community garden provide hands-on outdoor and experiential learning opportunities, fostering a deeper connection with nature and practical understanding of their studies. These outdoor areas are enclosed by a high perimeter protective wall, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students.

Science and Technology Facilities
Our commitment to providing excellent educational facilities extends to our specialised science block, which comprises two fully equipped laboratories. These facilities support our robust science curriculum, fostering a hands-on learning experience that encourages curiosity and critical thinking among students.

Dining and Social Spaces
RWIS also features an in-house kitchen and two dining areas, with a terrace for outdoor dining, providing a comfortable and nurturing environment for students to enjoy their meals. These spaces are designed to promote social interaction and a sense of community among students.

Accessibility and Transport
The school is conveniently located with good public transport links to La Vileta. We have implemented effective traffic solutions to ensure that car-borne students can be dropped off and picked up safely and securely, minimising any disruption to the local area. Additionally, we have our own car park that accommodates over 60 vehicles, equipped with electronic access gates and security cameras for enhanced safety.

Sustainable Design
RWIS has been designed with sustainability in mind. Our focus on air ventilation, energy-efficient systems, and a solar array over our car parking facility demonstrates our commitment to environmental responsibility. The car park also features two electric car charging stations. We have significant rainwater harvesting capacity and have selected local plant species for our gardens, including various fruit trees. These sustainable design elements not only reduce our environmental footprint but also provide practical learning opportunities for our students about sustainability and ecology.

In summary, Raoul Wallenberg International School in Palma, Mallorca, seamlessly blends historical charm with modern educational facilities. Our thoughtfully designed spaces and extensive grounds provide an enriching environment that supports the holistic development of our students, preparing them to become successful and responsible global citizens
